And in another life, I would be your girl
We keep all our promises, be us against the world
And in other life I would make you stay
So I don't have to say you were the one that got away
“Ron, do you have time now?” asked Hermione hopefully.
“Sorry, I got Quidditch practice now, what is it?”
“But you practiced the whole day yesterday…we barely hang out!”
“Hermione, we barely have enough time for the match against Durmstrang. What is it that you want to tell me that’s more important than this? I don’t want to get bloody beaten up by those blokes. You know how much I despise them,” Ron said impatiently
“Oh, never mind!” Hermione said and run hurriedly out of Gryffindor Common Room.
Lately, Harry and Ron have been up and about with the match that they barely have time for Hermione. It’s not that she can’t hang out with Lavender Brown and the Patil’s sisters. It’s just that, she is more comfortable with Harry and Ron. They have been inseparable since their first year at Hogwarts. Ginny on the other hand spends more time with Dean Thomas. Although they invited her to hang with them but the thought of being a third party and seeing their public displays of affection makes her curl.
Now, in their final year, Ron joined Harry as the Quidditch keeper, they spend most of their time in the field together. Of course Hermione visit them occasionally, cheering them on the stand, but when it’s over they are too tired to even have small talk with her. That made her upset. Plus, Hermione heard Ron talking to Neville about being a Quidditch player seriously. Although Ron joked about it, he at least has thought about it. Hermione remembered in their fifth year when Harry lead them in Dumbledore’s Army, while practicing their Patronus charm in the Room of Requirement, they made a packed to serve the wizarding world as Aurors. The more Hermione thought about it, the more upset she became. She didn’t realize she was slamming Charms for the Advanced book on the table that everyone was looking at her and the librarian gave her a deadly look.
Hermione was about to turn the pages when she felt as if someone was looking at her. She looks up and only saw Draco Malfoy alone with a book. Draco wasn’t looking at her, his eyes were fixed on the book. She quickly gaze away, she doesn’t want Draco to notice her watching him. She despised the Twitchy Ferret, a name that has then stuck whenever the three of them referring to Draco in a conversation thanks to the incident in their second year when Ron accidentally turn Draco into a ferret when he called her a Mudblood. But she still felt someone was eyeing her, too upset, she ignores and quickly lost in the book.

Draco Malfoy floo to his manor and he accidentally heard his parents talking in the library.
“Narcissa, how much longer do you want to keep this from the Dark Lord? Draco is big enough to handle a mission. The Dark Lord kept asking for him and I have run out of excuses!” Lucius voice echoed in the library.
“Draco is just a boy. He is our only child. Do you want him dead Lucius?” Narcissa started sobbing.
“Have you gone out of your mind? Of course I don’t want him dead. Have you not trust the Dark Lord’s power? He is stronger than ever now. Draco’s safety is more guaranteed once he becomes one of us!”
Narcissa continue sobbing uncontrollably. She doesn’t have the nerve to go against her husband’s words. It looks like Lucius has made up his mind.
Draco hurriedly floo back to Slytherin’s Common Room. The room is empty, everyone is at classes. Suddenly, a rage quickly build up, unknowingly he throws a glass against the wall, the glass shattered across the room. Sitting facing the fireplace, he stares deeply at the flickering flames. The bright red flames change to orange then brown. His gaze fixed upon the flames and suddenly an image appears. It looks like a thick brown hair dance in the wind, a giggle was heard, when the head is about to turn to face him, the image vanishes. Someone has entered the common room. Draco quickly rubs his eyes and the flames return to bright red.
“I must be going out of my mind,” he finally said, shook his head, stepping on the broken glasses, he head to the boys’ bathroom to wash his face.
Draco heads out of the common room, deciding to take some air. The scene of his parents discussing in the manor’s library keep playing on his mind, their voice echoed almost giving him a headache. He ignored when Crabbe and Goyle stop him asked where he was and why didn’t he attend Potion class. His feet finally stop and he found himself standing in front of the library.
He has never been to the library, he never comes to this part of the school. The library is hardly occupied by students, it was quiet and he can hear the wind gushing in from a small hole in the window, the sunlight pouring into the library and from the window the lake is in clear blue. He never knew that the library was a calming place, he notice the smell of old books and decided to grab a book and sit in the corner. For once since starting this final year, his mind was elsewhere and he felt like he could run away from any burden.
Suddenly, he heard a loud sound of big book being smashed onto the table. He was in rage, who on earth could spoil this moment? He found a girl sitting with a sour face. Her face seems sad and upset. Her curly brown hair was golden under the sunlight and a breeze was blowing her hair out from her face. Her cheeks were red perhaps from being upset. She bites her red lips and cross her arms. Several thick books were piling neatly in front of her.
“Who is she? I’ve never seen her before,” Draco said to himself quietly. His gaze is now on her and then realization hit him. This beautiful creature is none other than the muggleborn that hang out with Pothead and Weasle. What potion could turn her this beautiful? Her hair is no longer bushy, freckles are no longer visible across her face. She has grown taller and filled up in all the right places. Suddenly, his face feels warm and his heart beats faster.
He realized she was about to turn her eyes on him. He quickly looks down, his eyes are now focusing on the words on the book but his mind was thinking of her. He saw a few girls walk pass him and stop at her table, they say a few words to her and she giggled and quickly covers her mouth to suppress her laughter. Her giggles seem familiar and Draco quickly remembered the image he saw in the flames.
“It cannot be. I must be going mental,” he stand abruptly, the book fell of his laps and he storms out of the library almost knocking the girls off to the side.
He hurriedly went back to Slytherin Common Room where he found Crabbe and Goyle talking with the other Slytherins. Draco stares at them while walking towards the bedroom, they suddenly stop talking and look at him questionably. Draco slams the door after him and throws himself on the bed.
“Draco…,” he could hear a sweet voice calling his name.
“Oh Draco…,” he turn his head, searching for the person who has been calling his name.
He found himself sitting under a tree, in the middle of a large field with daisies and daffodils grow everywhere. The sun was bright but didn’t hurt his eyes. The wind was blowing gently and birds chirping merrily.
“Draco, did you not hear me calling you?” a hand touches his shoulder gently. He looks up and sees the figure of a girl wearing a large hat. He could not see her face clearly as she was sitting in front of him with her back facing the sun. Ringlets of hair dance playfully across her face.
She comes closer and kisses his forehead. Draco closes his eyes, savouring her kiss. When he opens his eyes, he saw Hermione smiling sweetly at him. He was about to open his mouth when he suddenly woke up. He was in the boys’ bedroom, Crabbe was snoring loudly on the bed next to him. He looks out the window and sees moonlight shine across the lake making the water sparkle. He quickly remembered Hermione’s eyes in his dream and sigh heavily.
